From the first time I saw "The Princess Bride", I was under its spell. Mandy Patinkin, in particular, will never be more charming. I was also the type of kid who LOVED bedtime stories and I would've loved the hell out of this one. I also enjoyed the romance between Cary Elwes and Robin Wright Penn. And who knew Andre The Giant would be a great screen prescence? I sure as fuck didn't! It would get a perfect score if it held up better after multiple viewings (which it doesnt always). Id do a more in depth review but I am tired. I think its hold its mysterious tone well with good performances and a good story and that piece of crap miniseries recently did shit on it. The original is great- especially for its time. It is flawed but nevertheless cool!

Normally I am quite surprised when someone else has saw this film. However, being the Beatles fan you are, Angel, I am not! I thought this movie took strange to new levels and I first saw it through "John Waters Movies To Corrupt You" show. and he loves it. For those who dont know, this is a fictionalized (?) account of a trip John Lennon and Brian Epstein took together. No spoilers here because if you ever watch this, you will know why I dont want to share spoilers here. Good movie.

A great account of a time and place. Ron Howard is one of my favorite directors (sans A Beautiful Mind's lying to the audience) and he always gets me engaged with characters. If I am not into the characters, I wont like the film no matter how much glitz you sprinkle on it. Tom Hanks is good as usual and he gets great support here (especially from Ed Harris and Kathleen Quinlan). I would go 5 for the visuals and the re-creation of a time period but there were some SLOW moments. All in all, an excellent picture!

The only reason is has a 1/2 star taken away is two things: 1) Helena Bonham Carter is SEVERELY miscst. 2) If this were a more "independent" film that only men with a brain could see that'd be better because too many idiot rednecks have misconstrued the message of this movie.
All in all, Edward Norton is brilliant and this movie is unforgettable.

Hitchcock is hard to dispute and this was one of Grant's best. Pure, enveloping story with a great ending.
