Daphne discussion

Postby MadGuy » Wed Jul 01, 2009 10:52 am

What do you think that she is?

Is she that horned thing? or a surviving victim?

Is she something like that random chick with black eyes at Maryanne's party?

I am guessing the second. Since no one really knew what it was, my thoughts is that if they had not treated Sookie. She would have become one of those things, or something like Daphne.

Interview with Ashley Jones

How will Daphne develop over the course of her episodes?

Jones: She definitely has an agenda. I've had to sign confidentiality agreements, but there's a lot more to her than you think. There are so many things I want to say. The twists and turns are fascinating, and they were hard to follow and keep up with, because they're so drastic and riveting. I learned about the character slowly, because I'm not sure I would have been able to grasp all of it at one time. She's very complex.

Give us a little sense of her relationship with Sam.

Jones: Well, Sam has never had the greatest luck in the love category. Daphne comes along, and they have very similar backgrounds, and they just get each other, in a way. They make each other very comfortable and kind of create their own little world together. There's a lot of love there, and there's definitely a romance involved.

True Blood is filled with vampires and shapeshifters, etc. How deeply involved in all of that does Daphne get?

Jones: I ... I ... It goes pretty deep.

Let's see if we can get around the secrecy by asking you a very specific question. How much fake blood have you been around?

Jones: Enough. Enough for a while. And it doesn't taste good. It really doesn't taste good.

You just dropped something right there...

Jones: I did. I did. That's enough.

Why would a waitress taste blood? Hmmm? Can't wait to see how this plays out. Sunday can't come soon enough for me. Bring on the fangs!

Well I don't think that she is one of the black-eyed people because that is probably just the people that Marianne has gained control over with her seductive powers. She may be the horned thing but the scratches on her back made it look like she survived an attack with it once.

I think that she is what Sookie would become if she were not treated by a doctor, either that or she is working for the horned creature.

So, she's a victim of Maryann. I wonder how she got away, and why she was attacked.
I'm assuming that Maryann attacked Sookie because she knew she wanted Tara to move in with her,
but why Daphne? or Miss Jeannette?

Who says the monster was Maryann? I think it is something else entirely.

Didn't you see in that final scene, when Maryann walked away from the party, where she dug her hands out of the ground and had three claws?
I thought it was clear that those three slashes on Sookie's back were from her.

Bit I'm really wondering how Daphne survived the attack then..

Yeh. It's all pretty puzzling. o.o
and I know she went after Miss Jeannette because of Tara, but I don't quite understand why...
And Daphne is just an enigma that we will have to learn to figure out at the pace they want us to. -_-

Shit, I just watched that scene again and hadn't noticed the claws :iguess:

Still, it doesn't confirm it :blum:

It makes sense if she is the horned-monster.

She attacked Sookie after the massive party at Merlotte's, angry that Tara was moving out.
And she attacked Miss Jeannette because she conned Tara?
I wouldn't be surprised if Tara's mum is the next vicitm.

Maybe Daphne is working with Maryann.

What does it mean?

I think Daphne may be the primary mystery this season, though.
We still don't fully understand the extent of Maryann's powers but Daphne is far more mysterious.

I just realized, every season the killer targets only females, or at least so far. :iguess:

Would they really give away the killer that easily? Maybe there are other people like Maryann...

But she does want Tara to stay away from her mom like when she threw out the birthday gift.

Michelle Forbes, who plays Maryann, has confirmed that her character is the bull-headed monster that freaked us out two weeks ago.

"I am maenad," Forbes says in an interview with TVGuide (don't worry if you don't what a maenad is). From Greek mythology, a maenad is a female follower of Dionysus (Bacchus in Roman mythology) that basically spends all its time inciting madness and drunken revelry -- much like nickel beer night at Wisconsin sports bars. However, maenads aren't exactly all about fun. They've been known to rip animals to shreds in during orgies of violent decadence.

Despite that, Forbes says her character isn't intentionally a bad person. Maenads simply pursue intense emotions -- from the shiver of a side-splitting orgasm to the satisfaction of numbed knuckles from a well-placed left hook. This explains how the fiesta at Sookie's went from bumping and grinding to street-fighting and gluttony.

As mentioned before, Maryann's secret identity was only the second biggest reveal of the episode. The first? That Sookie isn't the only mind reader in town. The young bellhop at the vampire hotel and Sookie did a little Jedi Mind conversing, at which point Bobby -- as I believe his name was -- bolted down the hallway and left us awaiting the next episode.

The first time we saw Maryann, with the pig, wasn't she naked and bullheaded?

I know Daphne is somehow related. Either way, I can't wait to see more of Maryann and her crazy-ass parties.

As long as they don't kill Eric, Sam, Lafayette, Tara, Jason or Jessica, I'm fine.

I love Maryann, but she's not exactly a main character. She is the antagonist and I'm expecting her to only last the season. :iguess:
I wish they would kill Sookie!

I have disliked him since the second episode this season, so desperate and self-centered.
I didn't mind it in the first season because of his dialog, but he has been getting on my nerves this season. He doesn't care about anyone but himself.
