Michelle Forbes, who plays Maryann, has confirmed that her character is the bull-headed monster that freaked us out two weeks ago.
"I am maenad," Forbes says in an interview with TVGuide (don't worry if you don't what a maenad is). From Greek mythology, a maenad is a female follower of Dionysus (Bacchus in Roman mythology) that basically spends all its time inciting madness and drunken revelry -- much like nickel beer night at Wisconsin sports bars. However, maenads aren't exactly all about fun. They've been known to rip animals to shreds in during orgies of violent decadence.
Despite that, Forbes says her character isn't intentionally a bad person. Maenads simply pursue intense emotions -- from the shiver of a side-splitting orgasm to the satisfaction of numbed knuckles from a well-placed left hook. This explains how the fiesta at Sookie's went from bumping and grinding to street-fighting and gluttony.
As mentioned before, Maryann's secret identity was only the second biggest reveal of the episode. The first? That Sookie isn't the only mind reader in town. The young bellhop at the vampire hotel and Sookie did a little Jedi Mind conversing, at which point Bobby -- as I believe his name was -- bolted down the hallway and left us awaiting the next episode.

it would be John Locke." - Charlie Pace, Lost
