I’ve been collecting comics since I was 16, that is 21 years of comic collecting. So with comics and other comic related I have a good amount of stuff in my comic book room. Sadly some of my stuff was destroyed in the flood I had last year, but the comic book boxes themselves remained untouched. I finally repainted the comic room and got most of the stuff organized the way I want it but it’s not completely finished. And frankly it never will be, I will always be buying new stuff and occasionally I will decide to change the way things are displayed. I think of the comic room as a work in progress.

I’ve tried to organize the posts in a manner that will make some form of sense, they may even be some over lapping of pics between the sections, this is not easy you know. Also this is just the room its self not the comic books contained in the boxes. Given that there are over 8000 of them I could never photograph them all.
I’ve divided the room up into several sections:
1. 360
2. The Batman
3. Superman
4. Wonder Woman & Teen Titans
5. Elfquest
6. Lone Wolf & Cub
7. Stargate
8. Firefly/Serenity
9. Action Figures
10. Other Stuff

I hope you enjoy this peak into my comic room.

Part 1 - 360
Here is the room at a glance, I tried to do a 360 view of the room; there are close-ups of things below. So if you really don’t want to know about other stuff you might just want to skip to the end from here.
Image
First view of the comic room as you head down the basement stairs.

Image
The light switch on the pole is my dad’s handy work. The room used to only have one light, with a pull chain, in the middle of the room. Dad wired in the switch and put in 4 recessed lights. It’s nice and bright down there

Image
Ignore the ugly orange chair, I’m planning on replacing it soon. The blue thing needs to be repainted, haven’t decided on a color yet. The contents are the trading cards that survived the flood. About half of them were destroy in the flood. Most of the binders were trashed even if the contents survived. I still need to pick up some new binders.

Image
It’s nice to have a place to lie down and read a few comics I’m careful about putting anything on the wall that I might mess up if I am leaning on the wall instead of lying down. It could also serve as a place to put a guest if my guest room is being used. But I would only put someone I trust in my comic room overnight.

Image
All 42 comic book and magazine boxes in all their glory. You might be able to tell come of the book I read the most.

Image
There are supposed to be shelves in the blue area, but I need to get them back up. I haven’t had a chance yet. This area was very hard hit in the flood so I’m kind of leary about putting stuff in it. I know I shouldn’t think that way but I can’t help it.

Image
I thought about having dad put light in the top of blue area, but I decided against it given all the extra light that the recessed lighting provides.

Image
The door leads to the unfinished part of the basement, no power on the earth will make me show you that. LOL

Image
More action figures. I’m going to be picking up the rest of the Wonder Woman set and I also have some room reserved for the second Smallville set that will be coming out later this year. Besides it’s always good to have some room to grow, however I will run out of room pretty soon.

Part 2 - The Batman
Image
Batman is the most prominently seen comic hero in the room.
One of the things I’m most proud of is this set of Lithographs that came out with the first Michael Keaton Batman movie. I had them for years before I finally got them framed. One movie one resides in the comic room while the second is hung in my living room
Image Image

This came out for Batman’s 50th Anniversary. The Bob Kane autobiography “Batman and Me”
Image

I got the fancy signed and numbered edition of the book
Image Image
Each copy had an original piece of artwork by Bob Kane.

This plate also came out for the 50th anniversary.
Image
I the little action figures all came out around the same time, which also coincided with the movie coming out.

I found this pin when out shopping with my mom on day. Image It was made in 1966, the time of the Batman show.

One of my ex-boyfriends made these for me. They are the 50’s & 60’s style Batmobiles.
Image
I got rid of him, but I will keep my Batmobiles forever.

Somehow I don’t really have any Batman action figures, just these “Poket Heroes” and a Batman bobble-head, but I do have a Joker from the 80’s and a matchbox car sized batmobile (I had it long before the others).
Image Image
Image

Some Batman books that I would recommend to all of you. Especially “The Complete Frank Miller Batman”

Part 3 – Superman
One of the oldest superheroes there is, created 70 years ago in 1938. I have a lot of superman comics and other stuff for him as well.

This is one of my more recent finds. My mom was helping a friend clean out her house when she was moving. The friend was gonna throw out the glass from the original Christopher Reeve Superman movie.
Image Image

This tin had Superman shaped pretzels in it when it first came out, in 1988. The coin came out at the same time.
Image Image
Image

My parents were in DC visiting family when the Superman exhibit as at the Smithsonian. So they brought me back this flyer/poster from it.
Image

Two great Superman comics.
Image

Except for Stargate I seem to have amassed the most Superman action figures.
Image Image Image
Image Image
Image Image
Image Image

I recently went to a talk that one of my friends was giving on Superman and I won the door prize.
Image
The title of the book kind of says it all, but it’s not just covers it has a lot of other info about Superman as well, it’s a fun read if you at looking for general knowledge about the “Big Blue Boyscout.”

And the collection wouldn’t be complete without a bobble-head. LOL

Part 4 – Wonder Woman & The Teen Titans
When I was a wee lass I always enjoyed Wonder Woman comics and even the cheesiness of the show, what I was a kid and didn’t know any better about the show. When I started reading again it was in the Post Crisis DC universe and Wonder Woman had just started her new run with George Perez doing the stories, I think the first issue I pick up was #6, so I had to quickly get the back issues. Since then I’ve loved his art so I had to look for more stuff he’s done and started looking for his other works with lead me to the New Teen Titans, which he and Marv Wolfman had been doing pretty much till he left to go work on Wonder Woman. Both series are staples in my comic book collection and unfortunately neither series has ever got the attention that I think they deserve. Even I have trouble remember just how many Teen Titans series there have been.

This is a black and white book size of the first 4 issues of the Titans series that was coming out when I was first reading them.
Image

The Judas Contract, it is one of the best Titans stories ever.
Image

Two of my favorite posters both by George Perez, unfortunately the pics don’t do them justice. I couldn’t use the flash or that’s all you’ll end up seeing. :(
Image
Image

I only have the big three DC comics heroes in bobble heads, you gotta love them.
Image
This set of Wonder Woman action figures came out earlier this year.
Image Image

I found this set when out comic book shopping a couple years ago, for the life of me I don’t know why Robin/NIghtwing isn’t in it. *shrug*
Image
The comic book store I frequent was moved last year and they found them kicking around so I picked them up for a steal.
Image Image
These ones came out a few years back, I just wish they had done the whole team, they stopped after two sets of 4 figures
Image Image
Image Image
Pocket Heroes, there just so fricken’ little and cute.

Part 5 – Elfquest
When I started my foray into reading comics I talked to the comics store owner and got some recommendations on books that I might want to check out So Hank asked me a few questions about books I liked to read and then obliged me with a few suggestion that were popular with female readers back in the day. Elfquest was one of it quickly became one of my favorites. The comic was strictly independent back then, it been coming out with a few things in partnership with DC comics now a days, so even though it was more or less in publication for more than 20 years it never got nearly as many books as stuff coming out from companies like DC and Marvel. The creators Wendy & Richard Pini are two of the small number of comic book people that I have met over the years. They came to do a signing out in Quincy MA in the early 90’s so I had to go out and meet the writer/artist/editors of one of my favorite comics. I wish there was more Elfquest still coming out but no one writes and draws it better than Wendy Pini.

Autographed print that came out at the books 20th anniversary, the only way to get is was to mail a way the original insert in the comic. So, I had to buy two so I could cut it out of one.
Image

Original Elfquest stories that come out in the 90’s, I think, they were done my various sci-fi/fantasy/comic book writers at the time and all edited by Richard Pini to make sure they stayed true to the world of Elfquest.
Image

Trade paperback versions of the original WaRP graphics Elfquest story (first 4 books) and the first two mini series’ (books 5-8), the Gatherum books are a lot about the background of how Elfquest came to be and about promotional stuff about the series. They are cool and rather insightful. The final book in the set, Law and Chaos, are still’s from a movie that Wendy Pini was working on. Her artwork is very elegant, not as flashy as some artist I like, just very beautiful. Image
Elfquest miniatures, unfortunately I don’t have the skill to paint anything that tiny, but I still had to buy them many years ago.
Image

The poster, it came out back in 1988, I had only been reading comics for a couple years then.

Part 6 - Lone Wolf & Cub
One of the best comic series ever! I highly recommend it to everyone, even people who I don’t think are going to like it very much. Not only is if a great comic, it give you a little Japanese history as well. The book here was put out by Dark Horse in a manga/graphic novel format, so they are small 4 x 6 inches but have a lot of pages, most of them run around 300 pages each. The story comes from Japan and was originally done in the 70’s. Dark Horse reprinted it in its original format and translated it from Japanese to English also converting the art work to read from left to right as us English speakers do.

Unfortunately I haven’t found much in the way of Lone Wolf & Cub Stuff, except these pins, I also have some postcards but they aren’t on display..
Image

Books 1-10
Image
Books 11-28 on the shelf.
Image Image

The creators also did a series called Samurai Executioner, the character will meet his end in Lone Wolf & Cub.
Image

They also made Path of the Assassin. This book takes me a little longer to read and messes with my dyslexic brain. It’s translated to English, but presented going right to left. So I have to think more when I’m reading it.

Part 7 - Stargate

I have managed to get my hands on almost all of the different Stargate Action figures that have come out. Including some of the special “free” ones that have come out. The problem is I have run out of room to display them all on the wall I was hoping to fit most of them on. So I had to decide which ones I liked best, its half SG-1 and half Atlantis, I will have to change the Atlantis side again when the new set comes out.
So here are some of the cool special ones.

This one was available at some comic stores on “Free Comic Book Day” a couple years ago. But my store didn’t get any so I had to buy if off eBay.
Image

This is an unpainted O’Neill. I got it free with one of my sets. I'd like to get some of the other, I'm not sure if I will. I lucked into the most valuable one.
Image

This my Stargate action figure wall as it looks now. I’ll be changing it soon. Sorry the pic isn’t that good, but it’s the best I could do without the flash. I didn't feel like photographing all 31 one of them individually. Maybe I should have they have done a really good job with them. I'm not sure about all of them but I know the Richard Dean Anderson ones were personally signed off on by him.
Image

Stargate promotional stuff either from the comic store or from the DVD sets.

Part 8 - Firefly/Serenity
I don’t have too much Firefly/Serenity stuff right now. I few of the things I’m getting are on order so here are the pics from the website. In pure geek fashion I will probably tell you all when they come in. :P
Lunchboxes.
Image Image
Front and back of both, so I’m only getting 2. How crazy do you think I am? :giggle:

I’m also getting this Serenity ornament. It didn’t say it was back ordered when I ordered it several months ago. :X
Image
You can detach it from the base so I’ll be hanging it from the ceiling somewhere that people will be able to see it.

Mal & Jayne Action figures, unfortunately they only got these two at the comic store. They are part of a set of 5, I have been unable to get the rest anywhere.
Image

Also, I have these PVC figures, the packaging was a bit messed up so I took them out for display.

Part 9 - Action Figures

You may have noticed I have a few actions figures these are the one that didn’t fit in any other category.

Smallville
Image Image Image
There is a second set coming out in May, supposedly that will have the heroes from Justice. It looks good from the pics I’ve seen.

Pocket Heroes. They just all cute and little, DC said they were going put out pretty much all the heroes in the DCU but stopped after 2 series and a couple special sets. :( You’ve seen some of them in the other sections.
Image Image

Clerks action figures, they have them for several of the Kevin Smith movies. My comic store never got the ones for Dogma, so I need to search them out on eBay at some point.
Image Image Image

Bobbleheads in case you missed them the first time. :P

Part 10 - Other Stuff

Star Trek Post cards

Star Trek poster

Star Trek dishes, they were a present from my aunt one Christmas. Plus other stuff in the back ground.
Image

Watchmen – The pic comes from a signed portfolio set that I got some time close to when the series came out, the Watch and pin too.

Posters & other promotional stuff.

I have barely any Marvel comics and this amount to all the Marvel representation that there is in the room. The cup was a birthday gift and the hero clicks in the second pic are just cool.
Image Image

Harry Potter – These were both Birthday presents.
Image

Highlander baseball cap
Image

Maus – One of the greatest comic book stories ever written.
Image
If you don't take my advice about any other book I've mentioned here believe me about this one and check out a copy if you have a chance.

A lot of the stuff comes from comic book stores, The one I go to every week and others. Some stuff I find online.

When you grow up and have your own home maybe you can have a room like it.

I'm glad you still think so. I needed to finally get the whole thing posted. I never finished it on the old forum.

Maybe someday you will be able to have one. I was lucky that I grew up in a big house and my parents were nice enough to let me take over one of the rooms on the third floor for my comics. If had to stuff everything in one room back then I probably won't have nearly as much stuff. When I went looking for a house, about 7 1/2 years ago, I made sure there was a suitable place to display my comic stuff.
